Everend is an exploration puzzle game where you play as an owl who has been swept away from their family and left stranded and alone underground. Everend was developed by a team of 12 new to the game industry. Download the game now at thatowlgame.com and check out our development progress at thatowldevblog.com.
As design lead I was in charge of the overall feel of the game, this included things such as level design, narrative, and gameplay. I made sure that everything from the team coalesced into what we wanted the game to be. I became the bridge between the artists and programmers and because of this was also the designated in engine artist. I worked with adding assets to unity as well as being the one in charge of asset pipeline, all assets need to come through me before they made it into the engine.
Additionally, I worked with the programmers to make sure the game played as intended, constantly refining gameplay and puzzle mechanics so that they are fun and intuitive. As the head of design the most important aspect of my early work was the game design document. Our art lead and I have worked closely to develop a design document that could be clearly understood by the rest of the team with a set of guidelines as to how the game should work.
Below is a collection of galleries of different parts of the game that I worked on ranging from envrionemtns to characters.
